Gaurav Manchanda is a technology entrepreneur with a background in international development, public health, post-conflict reconstruction, and emerging markets.
Gaurav is currently CEO of One Degree Solar, an award-winning manufacturer and distributor of energy and technology solutions created specifically for families and small businesses in areas without reliable electricity. One Degree products have reached over 50,000 individuals to date. The company has investors, clients, and partnerships with Schneider Electric, Coca-Cola, IFC, and the United Nations Foundation, as well as press coverage in FastCompany and Al Jazeera.
Prior to starting One Degree Solar, Gaurav spent years in post-conflict Liberia as Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Health, a position sponsored by the Clinton Foundation. In this role, Gaurav secured $10M in emergency funding from the World Bank, representing the first donor funding provided directly to the Ministry since the pre-war era. He also contributed to Liberia’s Poverty Reduction Strategy and National Health Plan, led cross-sector energy and technology initiatives, and strengthened both health systems and human capacity by hiring key Directors and starting a training program for mid-level professionals within the Ministry.
In addition, Gaurav has been a consultant with USAID via the Energy and Security Group. Through this work he has advised the Liberian Rural and Renewable Energy Agency and written publications for the USAID Powering Health Initiative.
Gaurav has a degree in International Development and Technology Transfer from Tulane University and the School for International Training, where he spent significant time in developing countries and researched public-private partnerships for rural development.
