Legal Science Partners (LSP) is a woman-owned small business born out of a 2013 technology-transfer spin-off from the Temple University, Beasley School of Law’s Public Health Law Research (PHLR) National Program Office, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-supported program to improve availability of data about laws that impact public health.

To better achieve the PHLR mission of promoting policy solutions that improve public health, Scott Burris, JD, Heidi Grunwald, PhD and their staff at PHLR developed LawAtlas™, a robust application that provides powerful visual display of policy data across jurisdictions and time.  This is being used to track statutory and regulatory policy on a variety of public health issues (distracted driving laws, youth sports concussion laws, etc.), but is also applicable in other sectors, from land tenure policy to trade policy and education.  LSP’s Workbench™ is a proprietary software that was built specifically to enable the coding of legal text.

LSP is pursuing new business opportunities across several sectors in which there is value to understanding, analyzing, visualizing and monitoring policy differences across geographies and time.
